Summary of Profile

Engr. Dr. Odunlami Samson Abiodun, has a professional and academic experience spanning over 25 years. He obtained National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro in 1987. He has a Bachelor of Engineering B.Eng. degree in 1991 from University of Ilorin, Master of Science Degree from University of Lagos in 1997. He obtained Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta 2017.

He had supervised several viable projects, designs & fabrication of items at both ND & HND levels. His areas of research interest are Ergonomics, Safety, Human Factor, Design and Fabrication of domestic, office and industrial items. Once an Exam Officer (Mech Dept,), Former Chairman Departmentall Internal Moderation Committee, Once a member of the Polytechnic Central Exam Committee, Once a member of the Polytechnic Flag and Anthem Committee, Currently, External Moderator Dept. of Mech. Engr’g MAPOLY, Ogun state. Currently, External Moderator Dept. of Mech. Dr Odunlami is currently the Head of Mechanical Engineering Department, The Federal Polytechnic Ilaro. He is a member of various committees at the Polytechnic, School of Engineering and departmental levels. He is a registered engineer with COREN and members of NSE, NIMechE, NIEM and an associated member of NIM. For his service to the community, he was ordained as a Priest (Reverend) in Methodist Church Nigeria in 2010.

As the HOD (ME), Engr Odunlami initiated commercialization of some workshops via establishment of Mechanical Ventures. He fine-tuned the curriculum table of the department; He supervised the establishment of two new departments – Department of Mechatronics Engineering, and Department of Welding & Fabrication. Conducted Industrial Visit for Staff of the department, Ensured all arms of the department participated in Student Industrial visits.  He gave the departmental offices, staff offices, and HOD’s Office befitting and unique face lift. He furnished the Departmental Conference room with ultra-modern Conference Table and chairs, projector and air conditioning systems (with the assistance of some old students). Three grounded vehicles were put back on road via student projects during his tenure. The security sector of the institution was given a Security Post and a tricycle produced via student projects. The environmental sanitation sector was provided with   He encouraged and assisted many staff on Academics and professional qualifications. Community development service in which many devices were repaired and some fabricated for the use of the polytechnics, sisters departments, sanitation unit and many more exhibitable items.
